Mediator, technically qualified lawyer (Biochemistry) with extensive international IP dispute resolution experience and a deep appreciation of cultural dimensions of international disputes. Former EPO examiner (Chemistry). For over 31 years acting as a patent litigator in a multijurisdictional practice handling infringement and validity issues in a wide range of technologies including; agrochemical, chemical, pharma, biotech, electronics, SEPs, physics, electronic cigarettes, paints, explosives, medical devices, precision ceramics, wind turbines. Experience of litigation in most European, US, Australian and East Asian jurisdictions. Particular focus on FRAND litigation. Co-editor of leading Commentary on Unified Patent Court Procedure. Chair of EPLAW ADR Committee and contributor to drafting of rules of PMAC.

Practical experience of conducting mediation or conciliation or judicial settlement conferences or out-of-court dispute settlements in disputes related to the scope of competence of the PMAC

Mediation – as certified CEDR mediator and counsel, successfully resolved complex patent and mixed IP (patent and confidential information and patent and regulatory etc) disputes.

Early Neutral Evaluation and conciliation- experience of use in patent disputes and extensive expert determinations.  Arbitration experience including of bespoke dispute resolution mechanisms to resolve patent disputes between competitors.
