Professional biography
Grégory Robin is Head of Intellectual Property at Automotive Cells Company (ACC), the European battery cell manufacturer backed by Stellantis, TotalEnergies and Mercedes-Benz. He is responsible for the company's patent, trade secret and technology contract strategy across research and development, industrialisation, and supplier, partnership and licensing relationships, in a sector where freedom to operate, joint development and know-how protection are negotiated daily across borders.
He is also the founder of StateOfArt, through which he acts as external IP director for innovative SMEs and mid-caps. His work there focuses on board-level IP governance: deciding what to patent, what to keep secret and what not to protect, and aligning those decisions with commercial strategy rather than with filing volume.
An engineer by training who subsequently qualified in intellectual property law (Master's degree), Mr Robin has 20 years of experience at the interface of technology, law and business. Prior to ACC, he held in-house IP positions in the defence, oil & gas and mobility sectors and within national research organisations [Saipem / IRT Jules Verne / Naval-Group].
In those roles he managed patent portfolios, conducted freedom-to-operate analyses, negotiated licensing and technology transfer agreements, and handled pre-litigation and dispute matters. Over his career he has been involved in patent disputes, oppositions and contested licensing negotiations, giving him first-hand understanding of what companies expect from a tribunal in terms of technical grasp, procedural efficiency and commercial realism.
Mr Robin is a neutral listed with the Patent Mediation and Arbitration Centre (PMAC) of the Unified Patent Court, available to serve as arbitrator, tribunal member and expert. His areas of focus include disputes involving mechanical and electrical engineering, industrial processes, technology licensing, joint development and co-ownership agreements, and trade secrets.
He is an INPI-accredited IP coach within the INPI MasterClass PI programme, through which he supports SMEs in structuring their IP strategy and invention management processes, and he teaches IP strategy. He holds a Global Executive MBA from IAE Paris-Sorbonne. He works in French and English.
