Stefan Müller

He acted as official representative before the German Federal Court of Justice in cases X ZR 96/19 (EP 1831250) and X ZR 46/20 (EP 1033407), and has participated in approximately 60 opposition and appeal proceedings before the European Patent Office, acting as representative, associated representative, or technical expert, primarily in life sciences matters. He has been admitted as a European Patent Attorney since 2013 and as a German Patent Attorney since 2017. He holds a degree in biology from the University of Würzburg, with a focus on pharmaceutical biology, botany, and organic chemistry, and completed a doctoral thesis at the Institute of Pharmaceutical Biology on oxidized lipid signaling mechanisms in Arabidopsis thaliana. His practice covers pre-grant, opposition, and appeal proceedings before the EPO, with particular expertise in biochemistry, biotechnology, immunology, pharmacology, organic chemistry, and genetically modified microorganisms, and includes litigation experience in patents relating to HIV, PCR, cell cultures, and amino acid production.
