Professional biography
Katrina Limond is Counsel and a solicitor advocate in the International Arbitration and Public International Law team at Allen Overy Shearman Sterling LLP (A&O Shearman) in London. She has more than 13 years international arbitration experience, acting in cross-border commercial and investment treaty arbitrations under the LCIA, ICSID, UNCITRAL, ICC, CIArb, LMAA and SIAC rules, across Europe, South East Asia, America, Africa and the Middle East. Her practice has a pronounced focus on the life sciences and consumer healthcare, telecommunications, intellectual property, technology and energy sectors. Across her career she has acted in approximately 23 arbitrations and mediations, of which 12 concerned IP, life sciences or technology subject matter — spanning patent, trade secret, trade mark, licensing, technology-transfer, regulatory, agency and distribution disputes in the pharmaceutical, biotech, medical technology, consumer health, telecommunications and IT/AI sectors. She is appointed to the Unified Patent Court's panel of arbitrators for the Patent Mediation and Arbitration Centre and to the IBA's Task Force on the use of Artificial Intelligence in International Arbitration, and is trained in WIPO arbitration and mediation. She also advises States and corporates on public international law questions including sovereign immunity, attribution and maritime boundaries, and has appeared in arbitration-related proceedings before the Commercial Court and the Supreme Court. She is recognised as a Future Leader for Arbitration by Lexology Index (formerly Who's Who Legal), a Rising Star for Public International Law by Legal 500, Best Lawyers' One to Watch for International Arbitration and UK Chambers Up and Coming for Public International Law. In leadership roles, she is currently co-chair for the London Court of International Arbitration's Young International Arbitration Group (YIAG). She served as UK Regional Representative for the YIAG from 2023 to 2025, and as UK Chair of Young ITA, the under-40s branch of the Institute for Transnational Arbitration, from 2021 to 2023. She co-chaired ThoughtLeaders4Disputes' International Arbitration and Enforcement Forum in 2025, and publishes and speaks widely on AI, IP and life sciences, and arbitration-related court matters.
