First Singapore-born lawyer to be conferred a PhD in Law from the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom. His PhD thesis was on the subject of software copyright protection. In addition to specialising in IP and IT disputes, he is an experienced commercial litigator. Beyond the sphere of dispute resolution, he also maintains a strong advisory practice for matters relating to IP, IT, licensing, cybersecurity, telecommunications, and data protection.

Appointed Senior Counsel in January 2010. Former Chairman of the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS). Awarded the Public Service Medal (Pingat Bakti Masyarakat) in 2020, and the Public Service Star (Bintang Bakti Masyarakat) in 2024 in recognition of his contributions to IPOS. On 31 August 2022, awarded the Singapore Academy of Law Merit Award, which is a pentennial award given to individuals who have served in promoting and advancing the objectives of the Singapore Academy of Law. Asian Legal Business named Stanley as one of Asia’s Top 15 Intellectual Property Lawyers in 2022 and 2024. In 2023, named Intellectual Property Lawyer of the Year at The Legal 500 Southeast Asia Awards. In the 2026 edition of The Best Lawyers in Singapore, he was recognised as “Lawyer of the Year” in Technology Law.
