Professional biography
Vassiliki Koumpli is an Athens-based Supreme Court lawyer, accredited mediator and arbitrator as well as mediation trainer. With more than two decades of experience in dispute prevention, management and resolution, she combines extensive ADR expertise with a strong background in commercial, regulatory and international law. She serves as Senior Associate in the Project & Structured Finance Group of Watson Farley & Williams, advising clients on complex energy, infrastructure and regulatory matters, with particular expertise in energy law, EU law, competition law and sector-specific disputes. A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb), Vassiliki regularly accepts appointments as arbitrator and mediator in both domestic and international disputes. She is included in the rosters and panels of several leading dispute resolution institutions and organisations, including the European Commission DG Trade Panel of Arbitrators and Trade and Sustainable Development Experts for dispute settlement under EU trade agreements, the Energy Disputes Arbitration Center, and other recognised mediation and arbitration bodies. Alongside her legal practice, Vassiliki is a Senior Research Fellow at the Hellenic Institute of International and Foreign Law, where she has developed substantial expertise in international, European and comparative law and has participated in research involving a broad range of legal systems and jurisdictions. She is also a mediation trainer at Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences, contributing to the education and professional development of future mediation practitioners and actively promoting the effective use of ADR processes. Vassiliki studied law in Athens and London and has undertaken extensive specialist training in negotiation, mediation and arbitration through internationally renowned institutions, including the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb), the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR) and Harvard Kennedy School. A frequent author, speaker and moderator at international conferences, Vasso contributes actively to the development of dispute resolution, energy law and regulatory practice. She regularly participates in international professional organisations and initiatives dedicated to arbitration, mediation and effective dispute resolution and frequently serves as Greece's national reporter at leading international legal fora.
