Mehmet Polat Kalafatoglu

As a lawyer admitted to the Istanbul Bar Association and working in the field of dispute resolution, practice international arbitration law in various roles, including counsel, case manager, and arbitrator. Before 2015, worked in boutique and international law firms in Istanbul and Paris, as a party representative in arbitration proceedings and setting aside procedures before State courts related to investment and international commercial disputes under different institutional rules, international conventions, and national laws.
Between 2015 and 2016 served as a legal case manager at WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center (AMC) in Geneva -managed and monitored more than 280 cases in English, French, and Turkish under the UDRP Rules for internet domain name disputes. In this role he was responsible for reviewing and processing different documents submitted by the parties and served as an intermediary between the parties and panelists to
facilitate the efficient conduct of the proceedings. In addition, he was in contact with the parties and panelists located in different parts of the world, and I provided procedural (and neutral) information on the applicable rules, procedural aspects of the UDRP mechanism, and other services of the WIPO AMC.
Between 2021 and 2022 - served as substitute member of the board of directors at Galatasaray Sport Club. In this role, he was responsible for the club’s legal affairs and supervised the club’s legal department. 
In 2020 and 2022 -appointed as sole arbitrator in two international contractual disputes under the ISTAC Fast Track Arbitration Rules (service agreement; seat of arbitration, Istanbul; applicable law, Turkish law) and ICC Expedited Provisions (Case ID: 02055: manufacturing industry; seat of arbitration, Zürich; applicable law, Swiss law). Appointed as a co-arbitrator in a domestic dispute under the ISTAC Fast Track Arbitration Rules in 2024. Added to the WIPO AMC’s List of Arbitrators as of August 2024.
Since 2024 listed as a panelist and arbitrator for Internet domain name disputes before the WIPO AMC and ISTAC. Rendered over 25 decisions in Turkish, French, and English languages. Very active in IP and ADR practice/research groups. Member of the Working Group on Mediation as a subject in IP study programs established by the EUIPO. Recently joined the working group on the promotion of mediation in IP (PMPI Association, France).
