Professional biography
Dr. Camille Jalicot is a Senior Lecturer (Maître de conférences) in private law at the University of Bordeaux, where he teaches intellectual property law, private international law, arbitration law, and business law. He began his academic career in 2016 as a doctoral researcher (doctorant contractuel) and subsequently as a temporary teaching and research associate (Attaché temporaire d'enseignement et de recherche) at the University of Versailles, before teaching at Université Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne. He is the author of a doctoral thesis titled "Arbitration and Intellectual Property: A Renewed Approach to Territoriality" ("Arbitrage et propriété intellectuelle : une approche renouvelée de la territorialité"), published in 2025 by Éditions Mare & Martin. The thesis offers a fresh analysis of the territorial principle governing intellectual property rights and its interaction with the transnational character of international arbitration, proposing new frameworks for reconciling the two. Building on this research, he has authored numerous articles in arbitration law, intellectual property law, and private international law. His scholarship is regularly discussed in academic and practitioner circles addressing the arbitrability of IP disputes, choice-of-law issues in cross-border IP licensing, and the evolving doctrine of territoriality. In addition to his role at the University of Bordeaux, he teaches a specialized course on arbitration and intellectual property within the arbitration law program at the University of Montpellier, and lectures in the Master 2 Applied Intellectual Property Law program at CEIPI (Centre d'Études Internationales de la Propriété Intellectuelle) in Strasbourg — one of Europe's leading centers for intellectual property training. He is a member of the IRDAP (Institut de Recherche en Droit des Affaires et du Patrimoine) and an associate member of the Dante research laboratory (Droit des Affaires et des Nouvelles Technologies), reflecting an active engagement with leading research communities in business law, intellectual property, and emerging technologies. Alongside his academic work, he has collaborated with a law firm admitted to practice before the Conseil d'État and the Cour de cassation (France's supreme administrative and judicial courts), where he worked on matters relating to tort law, contract law, and procedural law. He regularly speaks at academic conferences and seminars on arbitration, intellectual property, and private international law, contributing to the broader dialogue on the interplay between these fields in an increasingly transnational legal landscape.
