A significant part of his professional activity has focused on Standard Essential Patents (SEPs), particularly in the telecommunications (UMTS, GSM, ADSL) and television broadcasting (DVB-T) sectors. In these matters, he has acted as a party-appointed technical expert, providing opinions on essentiality, validity, and infringement, and supporting legal teams in complex SEP litigation before the Italian courts, where he has developed recognized expertise in standards-related patent disputes. He has also been appointed as Court Technical Expert (CTE) by several Italian courts, including Milan, Brescia, and Rome, in numerous mechatronics and computer-related patent cases involving validity and infringement, providing independent technical assessments and undertaking conciliation efforts between the parties. In 2025, he was appointed as Technical Expert by the Milan Local Division of the Unified Patent Court to assist the Italian Bailiff in executing an order for the collection and preservation of evidence. He has extensive experience acting as party-appointed technical expert in patent and trade secret disputes, including matters requiring forensic analysis, and has supported legal teams in litigation in Germany and the United States; over the past eight years at THINX, he has been involved in more than 60 litigation matters. He has been an Italian Design and Trademark Attorney for 20 years, an Italian Patent Attorney for 19 years, and a European Patent Attorney for 17 years, and throughout his career has provided patent, trademark, and design opinions and been actively involved in patent litigation. His technical expertise spans mechanical engineering, physics, electricity, artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, and information and communication technologies.
