Professional legal or litigation experience related to the scope of competence of the PMAC

He worked at Sisvel, a global leader in patent licensing and intellectual property management, from 1996 to 2000, where he was responsible for licensing activities and for managing patent litigation relating to Sisvel’s portfolio before the German courts. Since 2003, he has been appointed as a court-appointed technical expert in approximately forty judicial proceedings before Italian courts and on around ten occasions as a party-appointed expert, providing technical evaluation and reports in complex patent disputes (a detailed list of cases is included in his CV). He has also participated in numerous oral proceedings before the examination, opposition, and appeal divisions of the European Patent Office (EPO), gaining extensive experience in European patent procedure and litigation strategy. In his capacity as a technical expert in patent litigation, he combines specialized technical expertise with strong knowledge of patent law, delivering clear, objective, and independent opinions to assist courts in assessing issues of validity, infringement, and claim interpretation.

Professional technical experience related to the scope of competence of the PMAC

His professional technical experience combines engineering, intellectual property, and dispute resolution expertise, closely aligned with the scope of competence of the PMAC. He began his career as a Software Engineer at Matra Marconi Space in Toulouse (1994–1995), followed by roles as Sales and Technical Engineer at INKMAKER S.r.l. and as Advisor to the Electronics Department and Manager of the EU project “EMCP2” at the Polytechnic University of Turin, where he developed software for analysing industrial electromagnetic phenomena, establishing a strong foundation in electronics engineering.
He subsequently transitioned into intellectual property, serving as Licensing Manager for the “MPEG Audio” programme and Patent Agent at Sisvel (1996–2000), then as Patent, Design and Trademark Attorney at Studio Tecnico Brevettuale INTERPATENT (2000–2004), and since 2004 as CEO and Patent, Design and Trademark Attorney at METROCONSULT S.r.l., advising across diverse technical sectors and handling complex patent, design, and trademark matters.
He has acted as Court-Appointed Technical Expert in nearly fifty civil proceedings before various Italian courts, as Party-Appointed Expert in numerous cases, and as Technical Expert in arbitration, providing independent technical assessments in patent disputes, explaining complex technical issues to judges and counsel, and contributing to conciliation efforts as required under Italian law.
He holds a Master’s Degree in Electronics Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Turin and is qualified as an Engineer, Italian Patent Attorney, European Patent Attorney, and UPC Representative (since 2023), and he leverages advanced AI-based IP review tools to support rigorous technical analysis in complex intellectual property disputes.

Practical experience of conducting mediation or conciliation or judicial settlement conferences or out-of-court dispute settlements in disputes related to the scope of competence of the PMAC

He has extensive practical experience in mediation, conciliation, and facilitating out-of-court dispute resolution, particularly in the field of intellectual property. He obtained his formal qualification as a Mediator in civil and commercial matters in January 2015 and has since been a member of MFSD, an Italian mediation body active in IP-related disputes. His engagement in conciliation, however, predates his formal accreditation: as Patent, Design and Trademark Attorney and CEO of METROCONSULT S.r.l., and previously at Studio Tecnico Brevettuale INTERPATENT, he has consistently advised clients on litigation risk assessment and settlement strategies, guiding them through licensing, infringement, and validity disputes with a focus on negotiated solutions. This combination of formal mediation training and long-standing advisory practice provides him with a comprehensive and practical understanding of dispute resolution in the intellectual property context.
