Slovenian Association of Mediators Celebrates 20 Years of Advancing Mediation
The Slovenian Association of Mediators celebrated its 20th anniversary with a two-day conference held in Ljubljana under the title “Mediation as a Response to the Challenges of Modern Times: From an Alternative to an Essential Social Competence.”
The conference brought together mediation professionals and other stakeholders to reflect on the evolving role of mediation and its importance in addressing the challenges of contemporary society. Discussions highlighted the growing recognition of mediation not merely as an alternative means of dispute resolution, but as an essential competence for fostering dialogue, cooperation and constructive conflict resolution.
The anniversary programme also included the presentation of the Awards of the Slovenian Association of Mediators, recognising mediators for their special contributions to the development of mediation in the Republic of Slovenia.
Among the recipients were also two founding members of the Association: Aleš Zalar, PMAC Director and Gordana Ristin, member of the PMAC Expert Committee. The recognition reflects their contribution to the development and promotion of mediation in Slovenia and beyond.
Since its establishment, the Slovenian Association of Mediators has been dedicated to developing, providing and promoting mediation, ensuring high-quality mediator training, and contributing more broadly to the development of a culture of dialogue. Its activities also extend to international cooperation, supporting the exchange of knowledge, experience and good practices in the field of mediation.
PMAC warmly congratulates the Slovenian Association of Mediators on its 20th anniversary and wishes the Association continued success in advancing mediation in the years ahead.
