PMAC Director Aleš Zalar speaks at the Munich IP Forum

On 22 September 2026, PMAC Director Aleš Zalar participated in a panel on alternative dispute resolution at the Munich IP Forum. The discussion focused on how mediation and arbitration can help parties manage complex FRAND and biopharma disputes alongside proceedings before the Unified Patent Court.

The panel examined how PMAC procedures could be used in FRAND disputes, including the role of the Centre’s developing FRAND Guidelines. It also explored arbitration in biopharma disputes, particularly licensing disputes where arbitration is already well established. The speakers considered practical incentives for using PMAC.

Aleš Zalar was joined by Simon Dack, a member of the PMAC Expert Committee and a PMAC Neutral, and Tom Oliver of Powell Gilbert. Alex Wilson of Powell Gilbert, also a PMAC Neutral, moderated the panel.
